Our Student Selen Talks about Her Erasmus Experience
Let's listen to the experiences of our student Selen, who spent the 2021-2022 spring semester in Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium as an Erasmus exchange student. “Many people studying at the university have heard of the “Erasmus” Program. While 'Erasmus' is an unnecessary waste of years for some, it is a wonderful way to realize their goals and dreams for others. Going to Erasmus is a privilege and it makes one feel lucky. I consider myself one of those lucky people. As a sociology student, I think it is much more meaningful and special to participate in the Erasmus program because you can apply the discussions and theoretical knowledge we made in the course. Like many of my friends, I traveled to many countries during the Erasmus program. Seeing different places means getting to know different cultures and this will allow you to look at other societies, cultures and problems from more than one perspective. I think one of the most beautiful aspects of the Erasmus program is the friendships you make and the memories you share with them. Today, I still have friends with whom I actively talk and meet. Thanks to Erasmus, you actually have a home in many parts of the world. The 6 months I stayed in Belgium was an excellent experience for me, and since our department is already in English, I had no difficulties in my daily life and in lessons.”
